A Good Reminder

Sometimes I walk through the woods alone

I play a game with myself there

A reminder to myself:

I invite good good love.

I welcome healthy, exciting appealing companionship

I invite you, partner

I invite you, my lover

I invite you, my committed choice

My dream come true.

I invite you, connection

I invite you, communion

I invite you, good good faith

Amen amen amen.

I bet you

I bet you it was love.

You'd never know it.

What's left now,

Is hard to watch.

Our friends pick up the pieces.

I bet you it was love.

No one wants to hear about it.

I don't recognize you.

A Portrait

This one is photography.

Her trench coat is open at the neck

You can just make out

The curve of her left breast

She sits against a pole,

Clutching flowers in her right hand

She has a faraway look

In her eyes

Her pearls are delicate

Her hair is pulled back

Her feet are bare

She does not smile

To Find Home

In this one, you're happy.

You have found your voice.

Your roots touch the earth,

Your grandmother's voice is familiar.

Here, the sparkle in your eye

Is not a tear.

Here, body and spirit unite.

There's blood on the stone where you're sitting now

But you're pristine

There are shreds of tattered garments

But you're in robes

I may never see you again

But here's my hope:

I dream my best dream for you

To find home <3

Scorched

I put my love out in the sun

In the high light of midday

It's getting scorched,

Widely seen,

The ends crack.

Here is the plan:

When it is too brittle to keep its form

It'll resemble our interactions.

When it's too brittle to keep its form

I will grind it into dust

We don't agree at all

About what we're looking at

The soft before

Was an affront...to you.

I will take the dust

To the trees you planted in me.

I will till the soil there,

High hopes of what it can be.
